Essdee Lino Cutters & Handle Set Set For Graphic Techniques

Spades for lino and handle. The set includes sharp and durable lino spades that are precisely ground to the optimal angle for easy cutting of lino, made of high carbon steel, and a solid polypropylene handle with an aluminum sleeve that allows the spades to be easily fitted and tightened. A simple but very high-quality set of lino spades.

The package contains 1 handle and 10 pieces of spades in 10 different styles from style no. 1 to style number 10.

Style 1 - for fine lines and cross-hatching. Never drive any spade deeper than the sides of the point. It is possible to create a line with a thickness of 0.5 mm or less on SoftCut material and slightly wider on Lino material. Be careful when buffing fine lines as they can fill in.

Style 2 - a versatile and easy-to-use tool with a low angle of attack. Commonly used as a basic tool for first cutting lines up to 1.5mm or less.

Style 3 - narrow, round spade that can cut a 2mm deep line. Suitable for straight lines. Great for SoftCut, but cuts too deep in the line and the vertical walls of the cut can leave little support and weaken the top surface. With practice, it is useful for cutting small circles using a rotary motion.

Style 4 - wide, rounded "V"-shaped gouge for 3 mm wide lines with 45° walls for a strong print surface, especially important for delicate details and fine lines on large open areas.

Style 5 - tool for marking thin lines, for creating the first lines, for defining the design before using other spades, for removing unwanted background. It can be pushed or dragged across the surface and very easily rotated to describe curves and undulations. Cutting deep into the line or SoftCut to define a boundary for material removal is particularly useful with SoftCut as material can stick at the end of the cut.

Style 6 - flat radius spade for shallow, wide cuts or for trimming the sidewall to reduce the imprinted area and leave a strong shallow angle. By turning it in the vertical direction, it is possible to cut circles of up to 4 mm on the SoftCut.

Style 7 - wide knife with a flat bottom and safety edges on both sides. Use the blunt sides to avoid clipping the edge of a previously trimmed area. Removes a 3 mm wide flat groove or cleans large areas.

Style 8 – wide, deep knife for lines up to 6 mm wide. Avoid cutting too deep. Suitable for strong lines.

Style 9 - deep clamshell knife for narrow lines. Glides along the line. Avoid cutting too deep. Also suitable for harder materials.

Style 10 - wider "v" and more rounded bottom for creating lines up to 3.5 mm wide. Also suitable for harder materials.
